Purpose: The present study aimed to investigate the effect of psychological capital on student sports participation.Methodology: The present research method was a descriptive correlation and applied in terms of type. The statistical population included secondary school students of the second period of Dehloran city, which according to Morgan table, 360 people were selected as the sample size by random sampling method. The instruments used were the Luthans Psychological Capital Questionnaire (2007) and the Gil Sports Participation Motivation Questionnaire (1983), the validity of which was obtained by the formal method and its reliability based on Cronbach's alpha of 0.86.Results: Data analysis showed that the average psychological capital is 3.88 and the sports participation is 3.9, which is in the average. The correlation results showed a positive and significant relationship between all dimensions of the two variables. Also, the results of structural equations with Amos software indicated that psychological capital could predict sports participation at the level of R2 = 0.64 and P <0.01. Given that the standard coefficient of the relationship is equal to 0.64 and significant, so the variable of psychological capital has a positive effect on sports participation, and therefore the research hypothesis is confirmed. Conclusion: According to the research findings, it can be concluded that in schools, the skills of strengthening the psychological capital of students should be worked on.
